This is the story of Siva and Scooby, two retired golden oldies that were adopted to the mainland from Green Dog.
The story of Scooby and Siva is rather sweet as they both originally came from the same kennel on the mainland of Norway before they moved up to Green Dog on Svalbard in their younger years. Scooby is now 12 years old, and Siva is 11, and they are once again back on the mainland together after quite an adventurous life on Svalbard.
On Svalbard Siva and Scooby ran on different teams, but they worked well and proved themselves to be excellent sled dogs. Scooby was an amazing lead dog, and he ran as the commando leader on his team. Siva worked best in chase lead running behind the main sledge on tours. Both loved their jobs and thrived as sled dogs in the arctic. Both loved their jobs and thrived as sled dogs in the arctic.
At the age of 9 Siva retired and was adopted by Lesley and Trond who live in Lommedalen on the mainland of Norway. Siva quickly found her spot on the sofa and Jimi the Jack Russel terrier became her good friend. Jimi and Siva have a lot in common, they both like food, cuddles, sleeping and strolls through the forest.
Scooby was originally adopted by a family in Longyearbyen when he retired shortly after Siva, but unfortunately, they couldn’t have him anymore and he was returned to Green dog early in 2023. . When Lesley heard that Scooby was looking for a new home, she decided to adopt him as well. After all the paperwork was organized, Scooby flew down to the mainland in September 2023. He was so excited to smell all the plants after arriving, and he quickly found his spot on the sofa next to Siva and Jimi. Scooby and Siva were overjoyed to see each other, and it seemed as though they recognized one another after several years apart.
Today Siva and Scooby are living happily together. They like to share the same bed and they both love going to the dog park and for walks. Both dogs have the sweetest nature, and they are kind with all other dogs, children, and people. Now that the cold winter has settled inn, Scooby spends his days in front of the fire in his dog bed, whilst Siva curls up on the couch close by. They dream of running together on Svalbard and share so many memories. Scooby and Siva will live their final years together in Lommedalen enjoying their retired life on the sofa.
