The story about Smile moving into our family sort of already started, when Vegi moved in with us in 2017 (see the blog post about Vegi). She was a very social, loving and adaptable lady. Already by then, we knew that this wouldn’t be the only time, we would adopt a dog from Green Dog.
Originally, the idea was to adopt Amok, who is the son of Vegi.
But fate wanted it differently. Just before we lost Vegi to cancer, we came over Imalik, a Greenland Dog, who needed a new home. So two days after Vegi had passed away, Imalik moved in.
It took a little while to prepare the whole family, that “we” needed two dogs 😉
Imalik can growl a bit, when he meets other males and we then agreed that it would be better to pick up a female dog from Svalbard. After being in touch with Karina, we decided to adopt Smile, a 5 year old female, who didn’t work well with the pack.
She was picked up in the middle of the COVID 19 and landed on mainland in October 2020.
Imalik probably thought she was a very energetic, annoying “little sister”, but it quickly passed and they are now best friends!
Smile changed name to Tikaani (meaning “Wolf” in inuit), now responding to the short name “Tika”.
She is a fantastic, loving lady and I have yet not met anyone she couldn’t completely charm 😊 She participates in everything, gets along with big as well as small and she is a very affectionate dog.
There is no doubt, that we will pick up a new family member again in the future, from Green Dog- thanks so much to you, who are giving the dogs such a good start on their lives and who takes care of the individual.
