Hi there, I’m Rebecca and I come from the great state of Minnesota in the United States. I was lucky enough to discover my love for the Arctic at 15 on a 7-week canoe trip in Nunavut. As I grew older, I ended up guiding similar extended wilderness trips for teens in Nunavut, Manitoba, and the Northwest Territories.
I truly loved guiding, but as a canoe guide, I was left with a big question: how should I spend my winters? Which lead me to dog sledding. Before coming to Svalbard, I have been running dogs in Alaska, Colorado, and Minnesota. I love everything about it, the energy the dogs bring me, working with wonderful people, and especially seeing how much others love their trip.
Besides dog sledding and canoeing, I also have a love for long distance hiking and endurance endeavors. I have solo hiked the 4800km Continental Divide Trail in the USA and the 600km Pyrenees High Route in France and Spain.
When I am forced to be inside, I like to spend time working with textiles and I love weaving rugs or repairing my torn outdoor clothing. I also have a Siberian Husky who I keep as a pet, his name is Pocket and he loves cuddling, toys, and barking at reindeer.
I am so happy to be here on Svalbard and share adventures with you. See you out on the trail!
