Hello, my name is Josefine and I am a 23-year-old with a deep passion for animals and the wild north. I grew up in the charming fishing town of Esbjerg, but my hears has always sought the bigger, unkown horizons.
I now work as dog handler at Green Dog Svalbard, where I get to live out my dream of working closely with animals in some of the world’s most magnificent surroundings. My journey here has been anything but ordinary.
From an early age I knew that me life would revolve around animals. We have always had dogs in my family and when I was 15 I got my own which I have trained in obedience, agility and rally. I am educated as farmer, specialized in cattle and I spent half a year on a small family farm in beautiful, green Ireland. My love for animals and nature also led me to Canada, where I volunteered at a wildlife sanctuary. It was here that I really became captivated by the raw and untouched nature, which I knew I wanted to explore further before pursuing my dream of becoming a vet.
I have also served in the Danish military in the horse squadron. As a hussar, I had the honor of riding for Queen Margrethe on her last New Year ceremony as a regent.
My fascination with arctic life – its beauty, harshness and adventure- has led me to Svalbard. Here, in the middle of the wild and scenic landscape, I now have the opportunity to create unforgettable experiences for our guests together with our fantastic dogs and dedicated team.
I look forward to welcoming you to Svalbard and to take you on a journey filled with adventure, the magic of nature and unforgettable memories!
