Landry Appels

Hi, my name is Landry and I work as a handler at Green dog.

Born and raised in Belgium, I spent years exploring different career paths and met amazing and interesting people along the way. During my later years I was introduced to guiding. It started with a packrafting trip in Kyrgyzstan and before long I found myself leading multi-day off-track tours across Greenland and xc-ski trips through the wilderness of Scandinavia.

The more remote the environment, the more at home I felt. The urban jungle I lived in grew rather small, and Svalbard kept calling louder. In August 2026, Green Dog welcomed me to the team and it feels like the natural next step in a journey that started long ago.

There are many challenges out here and nature can be relentless -stormy, muddy, rainy or freezing cold days. But the moment the dogs give you their standing ovation as you walk past, you feel ready to face these challenges head on.

Proud to be part of this solid team, alongside experienced colleagues and the most amazing dogs!
