I first set foot on Svalbard in 2017 for a summer job, and apparently that was all it took to catch what we call the “Svalbard bug.” In 2019, I moved back, not knowing that this time it would become a permanent move.
Like so many others, it was only meant to be a one-year adventure. But one year turned into several, and today I am still living my Arctic adventure together with my husband, our two daughters, and our dog.
I absolutely love the island I call home, and the fact that my ten-minute commute to work feels like driving through a painting really says it all. It’s an incredible privilege, and one that I appreciate each and every day.
One of my favorite things about Svalbard is that you don’t have to travel far to experience the untouched wilderness, the majestic mountains, and the unique sense of silence. I love getting out into nature, whether it’s on skis, by snowmobile, or by spending a few days in one of the cabins scattered around the island. There is something truly special about having such breathtaking nature right on your doorstep and being able to share these experiences with my family and friends.
I’m probably the person you’re most likely to be in contact with before your tour, whether by email or phone. But perhaps we’ll also run into each other here in the dog yard when I’m out for a walk with my office dog, Burya. 😊
