Hello, I am Lukas and I come from Northern Slovakia. Dogs were always my passion since I was a child. I got my first dog when I was 8 and she was with us for 16 long years. My dream was to build a shelter for the dogs and spend all the time with them.
In my region the winters were very cold and summer were not that hot, That may be a reason why I love winter and I can handle cold temperatures very well.
When I finished the University, I knew that I wanted to do something different from my qualification. I moved to Switzerland where I started with alpine hiking, climbing, trailrunning, icebathing and traveling. I loved this “outdoor life”. After a few years, I moved back to Slovakia.Unexpectedly, there came the opportunity for me to move to Finland, Lapland and to become a husky guide. In a few days I traveled 2700 kilometres to Lapland in my car.
I spent there two winter seasons and I will never forget our dogs. It was the best time and work in my life. Cold winter, lots of dogs, all time outside, a lot of adrenalin and responsibilities. I also like to learn foreign languages and I hope that Norwegian will be another one of them.
Noone can give you as much love as dogs. I know that this is my way of life. I am really very happy to be here, in Svalbard and have the opportunity to continue working with dogs.
